Fire weather concerns will increase as a strong cold front brings strong, gusty winds and dry conditions to the area. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for eastern Lassen County, Surprise Valley, and northern Washoe County from 1-9 PM Friday, October 9th. A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for portions of the eastern Sierra in Alpine and Mono counties and western Nevada, including the Sierra Front, from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible Friday, with gusts increasing up to 45 mph as the front moves through Saturday. Avoid activities that could produce sparks, and thoroughly extinguish all campfires. Fires could spread rapidly in these conditions.
